Hello Fairfield Journals!

Our first little crop of journals.  My dear friend Caede and I, who have been working on projects of all sorts together since our college days 100 years ago, decided it would be fun to put all of our art toys in one place and see what we could come up with. We rented a space at Renegade Studios and decided to start making journals.  Art journals, gardening journals, whatever kind of journals we thought we'd like for ourselves (and we like lots of things for ourselves) we would make.  They're filled with drawing paper, note paper, watercolour paper, little pockets and envelopes to tuck things into, calendar pages, embroidery floss, hemp twine and shiny string. Mostly they're filled with blank space for their new owners to fill with sketches, notes, lists, tickets, wine labels, pictures, receipts, menus, seed packets, itineraries, quotes, comments and questions.  Our dream is that people will fill up their pages, then send images back for us to post here. Wouldn't that be fun, sharing our journal pages, ideas and inspiration here with like minded folk?  We think so.

Our love of journals started with the field class journals we had to keep during our time in design school. One thing we learned there is that journals ARE NOT PRESCIOUS!  As soon as you get one, do something to it. Write something, draw something, or just scribble on a page. They're not meant to be beautiful and perfect. They're meant to be full of stuff; some brilliant and some a total mess. Bang up the corners from carrying it around everywhere with you. Get a ring mark from a coffee mug on the cover. Is that marinara sauce splashed on a page with  notes from your fave Italian restaurant?  Perfect. Experiment.  Glue and staple into it.  Use it.  By the time it's full it'll tell a real story.

You can find them online in our etsy store soon. Or, if you want something personal, drop us a line and we'll make something just for you.  You can find us here, or at fairfieldjournals@hotmail.com
